Fall Classic Final Game Captures Over 50 Million Viewers In the US, Canadian and Japanese Regions.

The exciting extended contest where the Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run averaged a total 51 million viewers across the United States, Canadian, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball stated this is the highest-rated World Series finale after the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

The Saturday epic contest averaged over 27 million viewers on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also is the top-rated World Series matchup since the 2017 edition Game 7 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This marks a 16% increase compared to the last finale between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked 4th, Game 4 ranked seventh, the fifth game came in eighth, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth position.

Global Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the climactic game drew over 11 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English program in Canada since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it drew 12 million viewers. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – recorded over 13 million spectators, making it the most-watched World Series game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The full seven-match series recorded over 15.7 million audience members on the Fox network, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen audience growth for two straight seasons.

Counting the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the complete US average reached over 16 million. The overall Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged over 8 million watchers, an 8% rise compared to last year and Fox’s best postseason performance since 2017.

Major League Baseball announced that the World Series was televised in over 200 countries and territories by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen various languages.
